Applying energy recovery which is based on theory of energy efficiency, reduces energy usage of the residential building, while at the same time, increases financial standard and living comfort. With a goal of reducing environmental pollution in mind, it's important to take advantage of the possibility of co-financing energy efficiency measures in such a way that it increases overall living standards which is slowly deteriorating. In this thesis a comprehensive analysis has been done of both the economic and energy aspects of the existing family home, based on which rational measures have been adopted in order to increase it's energy efficiency rating. Using IntegraCAD software it was possible to extract information on total heat loss and heat gain, using which were possible to spot all the weaknesses in construction of said family home which had direct impact in increased energy consumption therefore resulting in higher energy bills. Complete analytical part was done according to HRN EN 12831 and VDI 2078 standards. Installing heat insulation on the outer wall layer, replacing external carpentry and replacing an oil-fired boiler with the wood-fired boiler along with a series of minor measures it was possible to achieve energy stability of the family home. Investment costs are not to be ignored though, but by taking advantage of the available co-financing, they become much more acceptable and offer much better return of investment within the lifespan of the adopted measures. Main goal of this thesis was achieved by proposing and adopting relevant measures it was possible to reduce the energy consumption and CO2 emissions while increasing comfort of living and financial condition of the household.
