Abstract
In this thesis a mobile phone application called “WristMate” is developed as part of environment that consists of a smart bracelet device which reads sensor data, a mobile phone that uses Android OS which connects to the bracelet and mobile phone application. The main goal of the application is the collection of data from the bracelets temperature sensor and forwarding the obtained data to a cloud-based database. The application is the main point of the system and serves as the middle point in the communication. The market for smart bracelet applications already has applications with similar functionalities but they are expensive and have additional functionalities. The aim of development of “WristMate” application is to find a way to introduce to a wider population of users the usage of temperature monitoring. Therefore, it connects to a low-cost smart bracelet with simple and precise functionalities with the focus being taken off unnecessary features to broaden the spectrum of targeted users. The bracelet uses BLE technology as a power efficient, durable, and smart way of communication. BLE devices are being used more and more in today’s market because of their simplicity and wide range of applications, mostly in Internet of Things solutions. The thesis presents the results of research of wrist temperature correlation to body temperature, the testing of the application, analysis of the collected data and possible usage and implementation of the data across scientific fields and day-to-day applications.
Abstract (croatian)
U diplomskom je radu razvijena aplikacija za mobilne telefone pod nazivom „WristMate“ kao dio okruženja koje se sastoji od pametnog narukvice koji čita podatke senzora, mobilnog telefona koji se povezuje s narukvicom i koristi Android OS i aplikacijom za mobilne telefone. Glavni cilj aplikacije je prikupljanje podataka senzora temperature s narukvice i prosljeđivanje dobivenih podataka u cloud-based bazu podataka. Aplikacija je glavna točka sustava i služi kao most u komunikaciji. Tržište aplikacija za pametne narukvice već sadrži aplikacije sa sličnim funkcionalnostima, ali su skupe i imaju dodatne funkcionalnosti. Cilj razvoja aplikacije „WristMate“ je pronaći način da se široj populaciji korisnika predstavi korištenje praćenja temperature. Stoga se aplikacija povezuje s jeftinom pametnom narukvicom s jednostavnim i preciznim funkcionalnostima čime se fokus pomiče s nepotrebnih značajki kako bi se proširio spektar ciljanih korisnika. Narukvica koristi BLE tehnologiju kao učinkovit, izdržljiv i pametan način komunikacije. BLE uređaji se sve više koriste na današnjem tržištu zbog svoje jednostavnosti i širokog raspona primjene, uglavnom u Internet of Things rješenjima. U radu su prikazani rezultati istraživanja korelacije temperature zapešća s tjelesnom temperaturom, ispitivanje primjene, analiza prikupljenih podataka te moguće korištenje i implementacija podataka u znanstvenim područjima te svakodnevne primjene.
