Abstract
U radu su najprije opisane značajke mreža širokog područja i male potrošnje (LPWAN). Opisane su trenutno najkorištenije mreže LPWAN tehnologije, navedene njihove primjene te su opisane sve njihove prednosti i mane. Poseban osvrt dat je na prednostima LoRa tehnologije i njezinu potrošnju energije i prednosti u odnosu na ostale tehnologije. Istražene su moguće primjene LoRa tehnologije u povezivanju i prijenosu informacija dobivenih različitim senzorima. Također je pobliže objašnjena arhitektura LoRa tehnologije. Zatim je uspostavljeno simulacijsko okruženje u MATLAB-u na osnovu čijih rezultata su određene značajke i doneseni zaključci o karakteristikama LoRa tehnologije. Dokazano je da povećanje prometa, broja krajnjih uređaja te radijusa područja rezultira smanjenjem brzine isporuke uplink vezom te degradacijom ukupnih performansi mreže. Povećanje prometa i broja krajnjih uređaja uzrokovat će smanjenje potrošnje energije obzirom da se povećava broj sudara i sve je manji broj ispravno poslanih paketa. Očekivano, povećanjem radijusa područja povećava se i potrošnja energije. U konačnici, pokazano je da brzina downlink odgovora znatno raste povećavanjem radnog ciklusa kao što i povećanje broja pristupnika rezultira većim downlink odgovorom, ali i većom prosječnom potrošnjom uređaja.
Abstract (english)
The thesis first describes the features of wide area networks with low consumption (LPWAN). It describes the most used networks of LPWAN technology, their usage and all their advantages and disadvantages. Special attention is given to the advantages of LoRa technology and its energy consumption and advantages over other LPWAN technologies. The architecture of LoRa technology is explained in more details. Simulation environment is established in MATLAB programming language. Simulation provided results of which certain features were examined and that gave the conclusions about characteristics of LoRa technology. It has been proven that the increase in traffic, the number of end devices and the radius of the area result in a decrease in the uplink delivery and degradation of the overall performance of the network. An increase in traffic and the number of end devices will reduce power consumption as the number of collisions increases so number of correctly sent packets decreases. As expected, increasing the radius of the area also increases energy consumption. It has been shown that downlink response rate increases significantly with increasing duty cycle. Also, increasing the number of gateways results in a higher downlink response rate and average device consumption.
